Introduction to Herbs

The medical benefits of herbs are something that has been known and used for centuries. Dating all the way back to Native American, Roman, Egyptian, Persian and Hebrew cultures, there is evidence everywhere of herbal medicine being used to treat every illness under the sun.

Herbs offer many benefits to the body, and some contain powerful ingredients that can help heal the body. The pharmaceutical industry was initially based on isolating these active ingredients and making them available in a more concentrated form. However, herbalists believe that nature provides other balancing elements in herbs which make them more effective overall.

When you consume herbs in their whole form, your body's healing process draws upon a combination of natural chemicals. Most people have become accustomed to depending on manufactured, commercial medicines for alleviation over time.

The new popularity in herbs is a result of growing worry about the negative side effects of potent synthetic medicines, as well as a desire among many individuals to have more control over their own health rather than simply handing it over to an impersonal health care system.

We are also exploring the many health benefits of using herbs in our cooking and for aromatherapy. Herbs can help to balance our mental, spiritual, and physical health in a variety of ways.

Nature's medicine cabinet is full of cures. Many plants include chemicals that are beneficial to specific tissues and organs, making them viable medicines for treatment, cure, or prevention of illness.
